Anita’s blood counts this
week were mostly good her white counts are as strong as ever and the doctor may
even consider reducing her Neupogen [white blood stem cell growth stimulator] shots from 3 to
2 per week. Except for her platelet count, which has
plunged again, her hemoglobin level is holding up better than usual since her
last red cell transfusion.
All the recent tests to
investigate the causes of Anita’s mental confusion issues have come back
negative, which rules out infection, inflammations, etc. There is a frequently
used, rather unflattering term, called “chemobrain”, to described cancer
treated patients who suffer from mental complications. They most often improve.
In late February Anita will
have a series of neuropsychological and behavior psychology tests done to
further evaluate her condition. They may then decide to start symptom
treatment.
Thank you again for all your
expressions of love and support.
Bob and Anita,
ReplyDeleteI think of you often though we only met one time. It was a wonderful time we had together riding horses. May God be with you both.
I am in Mesa riding at least was, tore my knee up on Monday. So I am heading home on Friday.
Take care and God Bless. Janis Latham
Dear Anita,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I found your blog. Since our family moved I have been out of touch with you and Bob. I think of you often and pray for your healing. You have been a good friend and example to me. I'm amazed by your faith and endurance. Thanks for sharing your horses with me and my children. You had convinced me to get up and ride even when I was pregnant. Haha! That was a fun day to remember.
Love ya',
Beth Raber and family
Well cow girl this is a new way to communicate and I would rather be in a restaurant talking over a nice meal like we did last year in Scottsdale but that will come in time. For now let me tell you how much you are in our prayers and thoughts but you know that. By way of gossip let me catch up. Elizabeth and I just returned from San Diego where we got to see our Grandson Trajan graduate from Marine Corps Boot camp. It was neat to see all those proud young men so disciplined and in shape and well groomed and polite. They all had their pants up on thier waists too and that is different but neat. At a lunch that was provided for the LDS Marines and their families I was approached by Tray's Bishop and told he had been interviewed and found worthy to recieve the Melchizadek Priesthood and he wanted me to Ordain him. What a cool surprise. I got to do it on the bank of the ocean right across from where President Monson went to Navy boot camp. Neat weekend but then later I had to take Elizabeth to the hospital as we feared she had maybe had a heart attack. Long weekend but all turned out well and she can tell you when she sees you on the 19th. Just hang in there girl and let your Ward family help you out as we all love doing it so relax and heal. Keep petting Lena and be good to Bob.
ReplyDeleteDear Anita anad Bob - Now I know how to do it a little better after seeing the above and figuring out how to make a comment really last through the typing process. I am in Phoenix - still sick with a cold - which is why (Bob) I haven't been by to spend some precious time with Anita . I heard she was in hospital in Mayo as of last week and hope all is getting better. Always remember that I am here in Phoenix tuesday through friday each week and am more than willing to visit with you two at hospital or run errands or whatever could possibly be of help from here.
ReplyDeleteMy 20 year old niece from SLC and her friend are coming this weekend for a week with me in Prescott before Katie departs for a mission in Milan Italy and Megan leaves for her mission in the Phillipines! Good girls. Wish you could meet them, Anita, but hopefully that can happen on their way home when missions are completed. I flew to SLC two weeks ago to take Katie through the Bountiful Temple (SLC closed for repairs) as her mother is not LDS. It was beautiful and cold and snowy and such a privilege to accompany her on the start of this great journey.
Well dear friends - so much for now. I love you. I pray for you. I long to spend time with you and to help in any way I can. I look forward to spring, and flowers, and warm weather and renewed strength, and hope, and health for you both. May God be with you..... Karlsson
